Social Media & Recruiting

The landscape of recruiting has changed over the years and will continue to change for years to come! In the past you made film, mailed the film in, and made phone calls. Now the majority of recruiting is done on a social media platform.

With that being said the biggest social media platform for recruiting is “X”. On this platform you are can share your film, build your profile, connect with colleges, connect with coaches, build relationships, find college camps, and much more!

On your social media profile you need to post your highlight and pin it to the top of your page. Coaches do not want to have to scroll through you page to find your highlight. If you have not built a highlight, then you need to get that done as soon as possible. You can also attach a link to your Hudl account in the bio area.

If you are using a different social media platform then make sure to follow the same advice from above. Find the colleges and follow them. Send messages and try to connect with coaches. I only highlighted “X” because other platforms I had a harder time locating coaches.

The highlight you post needs to highlight your best plays and skills. Think of your highlight as your resume. If you are able to get a visit to campus from your highlight, then that is your interview. Make sure to make them count. Build those relationships during your time on social media and during visits.
