We are going to dive into things that you need be thinking about when deciding what school you want to attend. We will look at what you need to look at, what you need to do, and questions you should ask.

When deciding where you want to go to school make sure to slow down and take your time. This is a huge decision that will affect your life for the next few years and maybe even longer. This could affect your future jobs, relationships, and direction of your life after school.
I am sure you have all heard "make sure the school fits you". What does that mean? Honestly, this could mean a lot of different things. First of all, make sure that the school has the degree that you want. If you decide to go to a school simply because they are the first to give you an "official offer" but they do not offer the degree you want then you could end up with a job that you do not enjoy after your time in college is over. It could also mean that you need to see if the coaches are as interested in you as you are in their program. If the coach is not as interested in you as you are then this can cause you to feel underappreciated. Go somewhere that the coach will reach out to build a relationship with you and it's not just you reaching out to them.
Next thing you need to do is visit the school. During the visit make sure that you like the campus and the area that the campus is set in. Make sure that you can there ways for you to get away from school and sports so that you can decompress from all of the work. This does not mean run away from the hard work, because you have to know ahead of time that being a student athlete is hard work. But you also want to be able to go somewhere to have fun. While on campus insure that you interact with faculty, check out the classrooms, and make sure you can see yourself there.
Then you need to talk to to your parents about everything. Be open with them and tell them what you think about each school. Your parents want what is best for you and will give you the best advice. Nobody knows you better than them. You can also talk with your high school coaches. They are also there to help you and want to see you succeed. But at the end of the day this decision falls on you to make.
Last thing I want to tell you is to pray about your choices. The lord will never lead you down the wrong path. If you pray on it and talk to parents/coaches and the college you choose is still heavy on your heart then you know where you belong!
