Gavin Patrick

Coach Patrick proudly holds the distinction of being the first-ever DeBree Athlete—a milestone that helped set the foundation for what DeBree Football has become today. Growing up in small-town Indiana, he developed a reputation early on for his work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership. His multi-sport background in both football and baseball helped shape him into a versatile athlete with a deep understanding of team dynamics and performance.

He continued his athletic journey at Wabash College, where he became a four-year starter at tight end for the Little Giants and a pitcher for the Little Giants Baseball Team. During his time at Wabash, Coach Patrick refined not only his physical skill set, but also his football IQ, becoming a reliable playmaker and a trusted teammate on and off the field. His dedication and drive positioned him for the next step in his football career.

Following graduation, Coach Patrick entered the NCAA transfer portal in pursuit of new challenges and higher-level competition. He earned the opportunity to compete at the Division I FBS level with the Northern Illinois Huskies, once again lining up at tight end. His time at NIU further strengthened his knowledge of high-level football, advanced offensive concepts, player development, and the demands placed on Division I athletes.

At DeBree Football, Coach Patrick brings that same energy, discipline, and expertise to every camp. He specializes in coaching the offensive and defensive lines and tight ends, using his hands-on experience to break down fundamentals, elevate technique, and build confidence in the athletes he works with. Beyond on-field coaching, he plays a critical role in recruiting support—helping athletes understand what college coaches are looking for—and provides essential guidance through the increasingly complex NCAA transfer portal process.
